Keeping Our Children Safe Online
The internet brings remarkable opportunities for our children however it is also creating new risks. Today, the majority of children have easy access to the internet through a range of devices such as phones, tablets and even games consoles. This allows them to explore new ideas, express themselves creatively and keep in touch with friends and family from all over the world. However, it is essential that our children are given the knowledge and understanding that they need to manage the potential dangers that are introduced by the internet.
The resources below to help you understand the risks associate with being online and help your child to be a safe and responsible digital citizen.
If you are providing your child with a packed lunch please ensure it does not include the following: fizzy drinks, chocolate bars or chocolate, sweets.
From September 2014, all pupils in Reception, Year 1 & 2 are entitled to a free school meal, in line with the DfE initiative.
Pupils in Years 3 to 6, unless entitled to Free School Meals, will need to pay for dinners.

Attendance & Punctuality
The Local Authority Attendance team monitor all absences and lateness of pupils in this school. A member of the attendance team sends group call messages to all parents of children who are not in school and have not given a reason for this absence.
Please remember that you have a legal duty to send your child to school every day.

Our children look very smart in their official school uniform. School jumpers and cardigans can be bought at a very reasonable price from the school office.
Our P.E. kit consists of White T-shirt and black shorts (during the winter children may wear plain black jogging bottoms), pumps or trainers for outdoor PE.
Applying for a Place
Applications for in year transfers should be made direct to Springfield Primary School via the school office.
For those parents who have applied direct via School Admissions, upon notification from School Admissions, we will place that child on our waiting list.
Should a place become available, we will offer the place to the next pupil on the school waiting list. Should no response be gained within 5 days we will send a chaser letter. If we still receive no response the place will be withdrawn and we will then advise Admissions & Appeals.
If contact is gained and the family do not want the place, the child will then automatically be withdrawn and we will then advise Admissions & Appeals. There are 30 pupils per class for other year groups, which converts to 90 children per year group. Should a child wish to go on our waiting list, their parent / guardian will need to complete the necessary paperwork. Paperwork is held in the school office, and all admissions are now dealt with by the school directly. Pupils will be held on a waiting list following Birmingham City Council’s agreed admissions policy. Priority will be given to pupils with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND) and pupils who are in the care of Birmingham City Council. Following this, applicants who already have a sibling currently attending our school will be the next given priority. If the applicant does not have a sibling already attending our school then an offer will be made depending on the direct line distance from school to the home address (this is advised by Admissions and Appeals).
School admissions are advised by the office of any pupils on the waiting list, and this is updated to them every time a new application is made.
